InStyle Magazine DJ Playlist

What a week! One minute I’m running around with the Brownlee Brothers, trying my very hardest to keep up with them, the next minute I’m DJing from the most Instagrammable venue in London, Lights Of Soho, playing tunes for Instyle Magazine's Project 13 Awards after party. Now that I've had a moment to catch my breath, let's have a chat.

Instyle UK Magazine Party DJ

Celebrating online writers and bloggers, Instyle Magazine's Project 13 is in it's second year, enabling thousands of people to vote for their favourite blogger in a range of categories (from travel to food, craft to fitness) to win an award. Much to my surprise and delight, I won the award for Best Fitness & Wellbeing Blog. Thank you so much for voting!

Instyle Award

There was even more to celebrate as not only did I win an award but I was also DJ'ing at their after party and got the party into full swing playing a mix of RnB and pop tracks but the following seemed to be particularly popular on the night:

  • Lee Walker feat. Katy B - Freak Like Me
  •  KDA feat. Katy B + Tiny Tempah - turn the Music Louder
  •  George Kwali & Kideko feat. Nadia Rose - Crank It
  •  Eats Everything vs Audion - Dancing
  •  Stardust - Music Sounds Better
  •  Robin S - Show me Love never

It was a super fun night, celebrated behind the decks, with friends and a cocktail or few. My Interview with Ella Henderson

Throw back to when I headed to The Hospital Club in London to interview former Xfactor starlet, two time Brit award nominated, superstar in the making, Ella Henderson for ITV2 entertainment show, The Hot Desk.

The chart topping pop princess revealed all about her very own Mirror Man, debuted her acting skills and even reminisced about the time Whoopi Goldberg gave Ella her shoes (I know. Amazing right?!)

She gushed about her pride at being nominated for not one but two Brit Awards this year and shared her excitement about joining Take That on their UK tour later this year. The girl's on fire!

The full interview has already been broadcast on ITV2 but below you can watch the interview too.

Are you a fan of Elle Henderson? Looking forward to this years XFactor? Let me know! I'm so nosey :)

Lots of love

Ella Eyre Performs In First Movement Activated Gig | London

Ever wondered what would happen if you combined the board game, Operation with a pop disco, Lazar Quest and an aerobic workout? Well wonder no more because last night I got to experience this highly unique happening.

I went to The Century Club in London to attend the World's first movement activated performance by UK chart topper, Ella Eyre. Before hand I was handed a Fitbit activity band to track my movement throughout the evening. I was then informed that the more I moved the more energetic Ella Eyre's performance would be. This excited me.

I suddenly imagined Ella Eyre to be wearing crocodile clips with electric wires attached, that would have her body popping to the sound of our rapturous applause in no time (Welcome to my mind). It would be like some sort of weird high school experiment which I couldn't wait to see.

Needless to say, there was great anticipation before the performance. The other guests all looking down at their activity bands wondering what on earth would happen now that we're in the driving seat and as we nibbled on canapés there was an energetic buzz.

Finally, Ella Eyre graced the stage (not wearing crocodile clips unfortunately) and her performance was incredible. It was the most intimate venue I'd ever seen her perform in. Positioned directly in front of her I almost felt as though she was serenading me as she belted out Gravity, Waiting All Night and her new single, Good Times. Even during her more heart felt number, Always Come Back her performance was powerful. What a treat!

As the audience danced and clapped along the activity wrist bands we were wearing lit up the room with flashing lights creating a disco-like atmosphere and before we knew it, there were lazar lights beaming across the room.

Even though I was working up a sweat, I felt confident and cool in Sure MotionSense deodorant which kept me fresh and protected with every move I made and using the Fitbit technology as I danced the night away, I got home to see that I had burned a whopping 715 calories and taken nearly 1000 steps. Not bad for a 3 hour outing on a Wednesday night. Happy days!

XOXO

DJing In Century Club London

Here's a little throwback to when I took my weekly radio chart show live to the Century Club in London for LCM's SS16. I played  the finest pop tunes for Mens Fashion Week London and was joined on the show by a host of special guests including Jai'me from BoyMeetsFashion.com at the exclusive Century Club on Shaftsbury Avenue.

Presenting Live for Hoxton Radio AJ Odudu

The private members lounge was transformed into a boudoir of decadence where I also chatted with founders of Drakes of London, Dermologica and ManiBreak.

Drake, A$AP Rocky & Major Lazor at Wireless Festival

Duke Dumont, Labrinth and Ms Dynamite where just some of the acts I saw at yesterday's sold out Wireless Festival at London. I had an incredible time. The sun was shining, everyone was merry and ready to party.

Onstage with Major Lazor

Being on stage whilst Major Lazor performed was pretty special. Seeing them do their pre-show huddle and rock the crowd was spectacular.

Onstage with Major Lazer

For A$AP Rocky and Drake I wanted to be in the crowd so that I could rap along to all of their words with everyone else.

A$AP Rocky, Drake Wireless Festival

A$AP Rocky was of course, brilliant but Drake,  literally wooed the sold out audience, telling 40,000 people that they were the best crowd he'd ever seen in his life! Wow. What a statement. I couldn't help but blush. There's something about the way Drake communicates that always makes it feel like he's talking directly to you.  Skills.

His set included London born grime artist, Skepta, ended with fireworks and had me bowled over.

DJ'ing For Ibiza Rocks

Did you know that Ibiza Rocks celebrated their 10th birthday last week? Well if you don’t know, now you know.

Ibiza Rocks is a hotel and live music venue in Spain that has hosted the likes of Jake Bugg, Tinnie Tempah, Example and Ed Sheran and without sounding too corny, is also a place that has filled me with unforgettable memories. Last year I watched Fatboy Slim and Ella Eyre perform live and I even caught up with Clean Bandit before seeing them on stage their too. Naturally, I was delighted to be part of Ibiza Rocks’ ten year anniversary.

 Clean Bandit & I

Clean Bandit & I

To celebrate, Ibiza Rocks had an exclusive pop up in Shoreditch, London and I was DJ’ing 90s anthems with my girl, Charlotte De Carle. Our tune-packed slot was broadcasted live on Hoxton Radio, where we controlled the airwaves for three hours to kick start the May bank holiday weekend.

90s music may not scream Ibiza Rocks initially, especially when Sigma, Rudimental and Gorgan City are all on their line up this year, but 90s music is nostalgic. Simple. I’ll never forget Creep by TLC being the song that I sipped cheap Sangria to before heading out with my girl friends in San Antonio and Scream by Michael and Janet Jackson was definitely sang in our taxi ride home one night after a full day and night at Formentera beach. 90s music has created the positive vibes for my pre and post-party antics in Ibiza so...90s it was.

Charlotte fed me, danced all over me and made me chuckle throughout the radio show. We were visited by our Hoxton Radio family, who showed some serious crew love and trendy East Londoners popped in throughout the show too. I’m still proud that I was apart of such a great event so Happy Birthday Ibiza Rocks! Here’s to many more musical memories.

You can catch me on my regular Hoxton Radio slot presenting the Chart Show, 2-4pm on Monday’s.

Nick Jonas Interview for ITV2

I returned to Mondrain London to present ITV2’s music entertainment show The Hot Desk. Previously for the popular TV show, I’ve interviewed chart-topping, Grammy award winning Meghan Trainor and former X Factor starlet and Brit Award-nominated Ella Henderson. Last week it was the turn of American actor and singer Nick Jonas.

One third of pop band The Jonas Brothers, Nick’s now a solo artist and is back with a brand new album and already has his single Jealous in the official UK top 10 charts. I went to chat to him all about that and much more.

Gushing about the overwhelming support he’s had for his single Jealous from fans and mega star Rihanna, sharing his disappointment in no longer being able to tour with Iggy Azalea this spring and chatting about his love for Stevie Wonder, Nick Jonas was ever so charming.

I challenged him to flex his stuff and even had an arm wrestle with him. You can find out who won that arm wrestle and see the full interview on ITV2 in June. Keep an eye on my YouTube channel too for some exclusive behind the scenes footage.

Needless to say I definitely play Nick’s music on my Hoxton Radio chart show on Monday. From 2 to 4pm I shared my quick and easy fit tips, three 90s hits which are so NOW, counted down the top 10 singles chart and of course, shared even more gossip from my shoot with Nick Jonas. Listen back to show here.

Good Day At Work Chatting To Meghan Trainor

Tweet Me: @AJOdudu | Instagram Me: @ajodudu

Chart topping, Grammy Award nominated, All About That Bass singer, Meghan Trainor thinks that my face is symmetrical. How do I know? Because she told me so when we met at the Mondrian London for a chat this week.

I was interviewing her for a music entertainment TV show on ITV2 called The Hot Desk and Trainor revealed all about what it’s like to be a global superstar, her favourite song and working with Harry Styles. She was genuinely lovely, and also completely bonkers (which I love) as she names the “good and bad” sides of her face. (FYI, her good side is called Jessica and her bad is Cassandra). I don’t know what she’s harping on about though, both sides of her face look good to me. Tune into ITV2 this Sunday at 11:20am to find out everything else we chatted about and of course, that Bass.

The full interview can now be seen here. Press play!

Hope you enjoyed it?

Lots of love

When I Attended Mark Ronson's Album Launch Party

Tweet Me: @AJOdudu | Intsagram Me: @ajodudu

I joined Dizzie Rascal, Tom Odell, Eliza Doodlittle and Annie Mac at the BBC Studios in London this week, to attend a party hosted by Mark Ronson. It was to celebrate the launch of his brand new album, Uptown Special and I certainly got my Uptown Funk on. The event was sponsored by Skincare genius’s Kiehl’s who gave me a pre-party pamper kit so that I arrived feeling fresh as! Thank goodness Kiehl’s spruced me up as things got sweaty in there when Ronson did his thing on the decks playing funk, soul, grime and hip-hop music mixed with his own smash hits. It just so happened that I’d learnt a dance routine to Uptown Funk with SOS Fitness Dance the week before so naturally it took all of strength to refrain from bursting into my routine when he played that track. Pat on the back to me for keeping my cool.
