The Colour Run

Sunday's are reserved for greatness and today has been just that as I took part in the happiest 5K on the planet! I didn't even have to wake up extra early as I merrily went to The Colour Run at Wembley Park in London, to meet my friends at the start line, along with over 15,000 people, who were all squeaky clean.

It didn't take long for our all white gear to resemble an explosion in a rainbow factory.

Each kilometre marked a colour storm of pink, blue and yellow paint powder and once at the finish line, we headed to the stage to listen to music, embrace the festival atmosphere and chuck around our own paint powder.

I came well prepared with a shower cap and goggles to protect my sensitive eyes. Not the most flattering get up but I don't have to wash my hair now so happy days!

I met the cutest dog who's hair had been painted and who's owner had pink, fluffly feet too!

Life really is better in colour, so keep an eye on my YouTube channel for the most colourful video ever coming soon!  #ColourMeHappy

The Colour Run is ongoing across the UK throughout the year so be sure to find one near you be clicking here.

Healthy Breakfast Ideas

Let's talk breakfast, my favourite meal of the day. Breakfast provides fuel for your body and brain to function after an overnight fast by restoring your glucose levels. I always eat breakfast after an hour(ish) of being awake and in that time, I'd have already drank a pint of water. Here's a snap shot of some of the things that I've been eating for breakfast, which will hopefully help you decide how to tickle your taste buds in a healthy way, even before you've barely woke up.

Cucumber sticks, cherry tomatoes, a slice of brown toast, one poached egg and a small glass of orange juice.

One slice of rye bread with half and avocado, cherry tomatoes, 10 grapes, 10 almonds and a small handful of blueberries. Also drinking a cup of hot water.

Grilled mushroom, one slice of brown toast with butter, two grilled rashers of bacon, a poached egg with a sprinkle of pepper.

To nip my sugar cravings in the bud bright and early, occasionally I have a small glass of orange juice also good source of fibre, energy and antioxidants. As you can see I love eggs for healthy fats and protein. Rye bread and grainy toast with butter or coconut oil on it are my carbs (which aren't the devil by the way) and avocado is full of healthy fats, vitamins and potassium.  I eat with my eyes too so I like to keep my plate colourful with whatever salad vegetables I have knocking around in the fridge and the bacon, grilled mushroom and poached egg combination is my healthy alternative to a greasy English Breakfast fry up. Yum! What do you have for breakfast?

ADAY & Fierce Grace

ADAY is a lifestyle brand from London, launching in just two days time. After hosting their Inspire Series in NYC, ADAY invited me to join them in London as part of the same sequence. I got to workout at Fierce Grace hot yoga, chat to inspiring fitness bloggers and hang out with ADAY's founders, Meg and Nina who were lovely. Together they have created a brand that can only be described as a God-send! Why? Because they offer clothes that you can wear practically to exercise in and also stylishly to go out in. Genius!

Full of multitasking wardrobe wonders, ADAY have leggings that look good, perform well and promise not to compromise on function. Their monochrome and clean cut styles create a high-end finish and they even have more quirky pieces which include their shiney shorts, to suit those who want to stand out. It matches my active and spontaneous lifestyle and I’m so excited for their launch.

ADAY offer wear for an energetic and impulsive lifestyle and Fierce Grace, provide the ultimate blend of strength and flexibility meaning that their collaboration was very fitting.

My Adrenaline Rush Challenge For Macmillan Cancer Support

I'm excited to announce that on May 30th, I will be taking part in Adrenaline Rush, a 10K obstacle course in London. I've done a muddy obstacle course before but this looks like it will offer a whole new level of chafing and soggy socks. As well as running over 6 miles, I'll be tackling man made hurdles that include hot stones, freezing water, floor bombs, bungee jumps and mud pits. Jeeze! I'll even be enduring trenches, water chutes and many more hellish hinders alongside my two fit friends, Zanna Van Dijk and Hazel Wallace. Together we will tackle that course in order to raise money and awareness for Macmillan Cancer Support.

As well as helping with the medical needs of people affected by cancer, Macmillan Cancer Support also helps with the emotional impact that cancer has, giving people the energy and inspiration to take back control of their lives. For that reason, I'm a) More than happy to adopt a sweaty demeanour and a few blisters and b) Asking you to get involved by digging deep and chucking a quid my way on the joint Just Giving Page with Zanna Van Dijk please (and pretty please)?

You can find out more about Macmillan Cancer Support by clicking here and by the way, there's still time to join the Adrenaline Rush Race. Join me if you dare :) They even have shorter 5K courses!

Victoria Pendleton Is My New Personal Trainer

Olympic, European and Commonwealth champion Victoria Pendleton is my new personal trainer?! Yeah right! (But I wish she was).

Today I attended Fitness First gym in honour of their brand relaunch, taking part in an exclusive spin class hosted by Victoria Pendleton. Now apparently, statistics show that today is the most depressing day of the year but there was no such sign of any Monday blues at this event (nonsensically named, “Red Monday”). I’ve honestly never been so happy to jump out of bed at 6am. I was seated right next to Victoria so it's official, I have trained with an Olympian. *Smug*.

Forty minutes of continuous cycling caused quite a sweat but nevertheless, Victoria and I exchanged great words like “URGH! I’m shattered already” (OK well that was more me than her),  we laughed together and we even celebrated with a sloppy high five at the end of the class! I’ve definitely got the wheels in motion for us to become BFFs right? In all seriousness though, Victoria actually said I had (and I quote) “really good technique and consistent speed” so someone please get on the phone to Team GB because they have bagged themselves a new AJ shaped recruit. Pass me a gold medal (for effort at least).
