Where To Eat In London | West Thirty Six

Situated in the heart of West London by Notting Hill, West Thirty Six is an all-day grill house and cocktail lounge and I swung by there for a delicious lunch with a couple of my girl friends, Mollie and Chloe.

The venue is beautiful, featuring  an open grill, quirky lounge spaces and an incredible roof terrace, the latter being where my friends and I dined.

I ordered the salad, lamb cuttles and chocolate bar and peanut crunch which was all, sensational. If only pictures could capture  the wonderful flavours on my palette. Luckily, food envy wasn't a problem as I sampled the girls's lemon sole and chicken dishes too which were equally as pleasant. The salads are sexy, chips are chunky and West thirty Six plays the likes of Alicia Keys in the back ground. My idea of heaven.

Whether it's a dinner date venue you're after, a relaxed environment for a business meeting or simply somewhere to pop in for a drink, this venue ticks a lot of boxes. I think this just might be my new favourite place.

Let me know if you know of any other nice places to eat in London. I'd love to try them.

Lots of foodie love, AJ

Barry's Bootcamp | East London

To celebrate the launch of their eagerly awaited second London studio, Barry's Bootcamp invited me along to their brand new East London branch to try a full body workout with celebrity trainers, Anya and Sandy. I've tried each of their classes before in their Central London studio but location wise, this suits me better so I'm excited.

Barry's Bootcamp East London

Like their Barry's Central studio, the space at Barry's Bootcamp East has a modern, almost industrial New York feel, complete with a fuel bar (where they serve delicious protein shakes, Ozone coffee and nutritious in-house food) and swanky changing rooms bursting with lotions, straighteners and lighting good enough for those  pre-workout selffies.  This studio raises the bar however, providing those who forget their running shoes with three choices of footwear from the latest Nike running range. Genius!

If you don't know much about Barry's Bootcamp then here's the story. They offer hour-long workouts, targeting specific parts of the body, that include 30 minutes of interval treadmill running and 30 minutes of strength training. The running has a mixture of different speeds, including varied inclines and is interspersed with strength workout on the floor.

All of this takes place in a room that adopts a red hue and that is filled with motivating, thumping tunes. They play the kind of music that you would hum and sing along to if only you could catch your breath.

It's brilliantly brutal! If there's an ounce of competitive spirit within you it suddenly surfaces and a bit of will power goes such along way in this class. Anya and Sandy push you just enough to ensure you break through those pain barriers and constantly encourage you to believe that you're always stronger than you think and will make it to the end of the class and guess what? You always do! Granted, you feel absolutely shattered at the end of it but you also feel proud and elated. Your endorphins really do go through the roof!

I've tried many a workout class but I must admit that I find this to be the most effective way to improve your cardiovascular system, lose weight and build muscle. With their very own in house dog, Crusoe and the friendliest team around, you can't help but feel like a member of one big happy fit family.

Regardless of your fitness levels, you can burn 1000 calories each class so it really is no wonder that Barry's Bootcamp is the best workout in the world! I filmed a cheeky little YouTube video when I first tried Barry's so here's a tapas amount of what you can expect in motion.

Barry's Bootcamp are taking online bookings now so I hope to see you at a class very soon :)

Lots of sweaty hugs and kisses,

AJ

Baked Eggs In Avocado With Bacon

Joe Wicks is an online nutrition coach and I follow him on Instagram for two reasons. 1. He's hilarious 2. His 15 minute meals.

Basically, he creates a range of healthy meals that take no longer than 15 minutes to make and condenses it into a 15 second video Instagram post. This is a recipe I pinched from his Instagram @TheBodyCoach; baked eggs in avocado with bacon.

Pre & post workout breakfast

Easy to make this is the perfect post workout meal or healthy breakfast/brunch, oozing with flavour, good fats and loads of protein and what's more, it's super easy to make.

The Body Coach Receipe

I simply sliced my avocados in half, deseeded them and flattened the bottoms before cracking the eggs into the hollows where the seeds were, bunging it into the over for about 5 minutes whilst grilling a couple of slices of bacon and preparing my salad at the same time.

Baked eggs in avocado

My eggs were a little on the large side leading to an egg white spillage into my baking dish and in hindsight, it would have been much easier to eat had I scooped the avocados out of it's skin before baking but nevertheless it tasted and looked fantastic!

Healthy Brunch

I scoffed it with brown toast, cucumber, tomatoes, fresh coriander and spinach and made enough for two!

Healthy Breakfast

I shared the post on my Instagram @AJOdudu, got the thumbs up from TheBodyCoach himself and even TV chef Lorraine Pascale suggested her own take on the meal, which I'll definitely be trying.

Check out my Youtube video where I show you exactly how I made it.

It was filling and delicious so definitely give it a try and let me know what you think.

Loads of love, AJ

Modelling For adidas A/W15

OK so adidas have chosen three females to model key pieces of their new Autumn/Winter 2015 training collection and I'm one of them. Needless to say this pleases me.

Ever since I was a little girl I've enjoyed adidas. From the adidas poppers that exposed my naked legs to the harsh winds of Blackburn, Lancashire, to the adidas Gallaxy football boots that I remember my older brother saving up for, only for me to be the annoying little sister and unscrew the studs before misplacing them. Quite literally, adidas is a brand that I have grown up with and so naturally, I'm excited to be working with them.

I'm passionate about all areas of fitness and promoting a healthy body image for females and the new collection from adidas certainly adds to that confident feeling you get from working out. It also shows off my individual style. Bright colours and matching two pieces? Yes please! Activewear that not only looks good but performs well.

Shooting the look book and modelling this range was so much fun and as well as flaunting my stuff,  I have created a bespoke series of instructional workout videos with adidas too, the first of which goes live on Tuesday 30th June right here. This is for their #WorkIt summer campaign, which aims to encourage women across the UK to try out fresh fitness moves so expect fun, energy boosting workouts that incorporate dynamic and explosive exercises.

Hold tight for more exciting news as you could be in with a chance of getting your hands on this amazing fit kit and whilst you're holding, tell me which items you are looking forward to getting your paws on?

To get involved and access the free workouts head to Facebook and like the adidas Women page

The brand new AW15 Women’s Training collection is available here. Don't forget to check out my adidas girl gang Cat Meffan and Em Sheldon.

Lots of adidas shaped love from AJ Odudu

Healthy Breakfast Ideas

Let's talk breakfast, my favourite meal of the day. Breakfast provides fuel for your body and brain to function after an overnight fast by restoring your glucose levels. I always eat breakfast after an hour(ish) of being awake and in that time, I'd have already drank a pint of water. Here's a snap shot of some of the things that I've been eating for breakfast, which will hopefully help you decide how to tickle your taste buds in a healthy way, even before you've barely woke up.

Cucumber sticks, cherry tomatoes, a slice of brown toast, one poached egg and a small glass of orange juice.

One slice of rye bread with half and avocado, cherry tomatoes, 10 grapes, 10 almonds and a small handful of blueberries. Also drinking a cup of hot water.

Grilled mushroom, one slice of brown toast with butter, two grilled rashers of bacon, a poached egg with a sprinkle of pepper.

To nip my sugar cravings in the bud bright and early, occasionally I have a small glass of orange juice also good source of fibre, energy and antioxidants. As you can see I love eggs for healthy fats and protein. Rye bread and grainy toast with butter or coconut oil on it are my carbs (which aren't the devil by the way) and avocado is full of healthy fats, vitamins and potassium.  I eat with my eyes too so I like to keep my plate colourful with whatever salad vegetables I have knocking around in the fridge and the bacon, grilled mushroom and poached egg combination is my healthy alternative to a greasy English Breakfast fry up. Yum! What do you have for breakfast?
