Nick Jonas Interview for ITV2

I returned to Mondrain London to present ITV2’s music entertainment show The Hot Desk. Previously for the popular TV show, I’ve interviewed chart-topping, Grammy award winning Meghan Trainor and former X Factor starlet and Brit Award-nominated Ella Henderson. Last week it was the turn of American actor and singer Nick Jonas.

One third of pop band The Jonas Brothers, Nick’s now a solo artist and is back with a brand new album and already has his single Jealous in the official UK top 10 charts. I went to chat to him all about that and much more.

Gushing about the overwhelming support he’s had for his single Jealous from fans and mega star Rihanna, sharing his disappointment in no longer being able to tour with Iggy Azalea this spring and chatting about his love for Stevie Wonder, Nick Jonas was ever so charming.

I challenged him to flex his stuff and even had an arm wrestle with him. You can find out who won that arm wrestle and see the full interview on ITV2 in June. Keep an eye on my YouTube channel too for some exclusive behind the scenes footage.

Needless to say I definitely play Nick’s music on my Hoxton Radio chart show on Monday. From 2 to 4pm I shared my quick and easy fit tips, three 90s hits which are so NOW, counted down the top 10 singles chart and of course, shared even more gossip from my shoot with Nick Jonas. Listen back to show here.

DJ'ing & Dancing with Mark Ronson & Bruno Mars

DJ AJ Odudu

OK so maybe not with Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars...more like to Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars. When H&M invited me to do a dance class with them and SOS Fitness (Seen On Screen Fitness)  I jumped at the chance. I’ve read all about SOS who create and teach dance routines inspired by the the biggest pop stars (some of which they have actually worked with) to help you get fit whilst having bags of fun.

It was to celebrate the launch of H&M’s new fitness range which includes matching co-ords, funky sports bras and a range of trendy outdoor gear for hiking. The prices are pretty snazzy too. With SOS you can learn how to dance like pop stars such as Beyoncé, Rihanna, Kylie, Britney Spears or in my case, Mark Ronson. Genius!

I worked up a sweat by sticking out my bottom, flicking my hair in the wind machines, strutting and twerking for an hour straight. Not to mention all the smiling and laughing I did which, if you ask me, is a workout in itself. It was so much fun and I can still remember the dance routine…(well, at least half if it). After gyrating to Uptown Funk with a load of sassy ladies I stepped behind the wheels of steel for a quick spin myself. Britney medley anyone?!

Good Day At Work Chatting To Meghan Trainor

Chart topping, Grammy Award nominated, All About That Bass singer, Meghan Trainor thinks that my face is symmetrical. How do I know? Because she told me so when we met at the Mondrian London for a chat this week.

I was interviewing her for a music entertainment TV show on ITV2 called The Hot Desk and Trainor revealed all about what it’s like to be a global superstar, her favourite song and working with Harry Styles. She was genuinely lovely, and also completely bonkers (which I love) as she names the “good and bad” sides of her face. (FYI, her good side is called Jessica and her bad is Cassandra). I don’t know what she’s harping on about though, both sides of her face look good to me. Tune into ITV2 this Sunday at 11:20am to find out everything else we chatted about and of course, that Bass.

The full interview can now be seen here. Press play!

Hope you enjoyed it?

Lots of love

When I Attended Mark Ronson's Album Launch Party

I joined Dizzie Rascal, Tom Odell, Eliza Doodlittle and Annie Mac at the BBC Studios in London this week, to attend a party hosted by Mark Ronson. It was to celebrate the launch of his brand new album, Uptown Special and I certainly got my Uptown Funk on. The event was sponsored by Skincare genius’s Kiehl’s who gave me a pre-party pamper kit so that I arrived feeling fresh as! Thank goodness Kiehl’s spruced me up as things got sweaty in there when Ronson did his thing on the decks playing funk, soul, grime and hip-hop music mixed with his own smash hits. It just so happened that I’d learnt a dance routine to Uptown Funk with SOS Fitness Dance the week before so naturally it took all of strength to refrain from bursting into my routine when he played that track. Pat on the back to me for keeping my cool.

My DJ set for Whistle & Bango Launch Party

I DJ’ed at the launch party of London based jewellery brand, Whistle & Bango in Notting Hill last night. The party served up Itsu’s signature sushi, a variety of cocktails, charming postcode bangles and a smorgasbord of house, pop and dance music from me.

Designer and co-founder of Whistle & Bango, Ashley James had a lavish guest list of lovely people including TV presenter’s, Lilah Parson’s, Zoe Hardman and Matt Richardson, Made in Chelsea’s Ollie Locke, Towie’s Fearne and many more. I love spinning tunes, especially for brands that I’m a fan of and in the playlist above is just a tapas amount of the tunes my DJ set consisted of. Hope you like them? Here’s a list of what I’m listening to right this second.

Beyonce- Upgarde U (Papertoy Remix), Rihanna- Pour It Up (Leo Kalyan Remix), Destiny’s Child- Say My Name (Cyril Hahn Remix), Lorde- Tennis Court (Flume Remix)

DJ'ing In North London

I took to the decks in a North London bar, The Driver, to do an exclusive DJ set for a private party until the early hours of the morning. I played all things poptastic from Madonna to Jason Durulo, Kylie Minogue to Miley Cyrus. Song of the night? Gypsy Woman by Crystal Waters. Went down a treat. Let me know what your pop favourites are!

DJ'ing At Club Oslo, London

On Friday I took to the decks at East London club, Oslo. With a foot stamping, hip-swaying, 90's R'n'B set, I played a two hour set of nostalgic tunes to 400 people, with them approving of Tina Moore, Sweet Female Attitude and R Kelly the most. I’m still bopping away. What tunes get you grooving on the dance floor?

Kylie Minogue Kiss Me Once Tour 2014

La la la, la-la-la-la-la I just can’t get Kylie Minogue out of my head after seeing her at the O2 during her current Kiss Me Once tour. The pint sized pop princess is looking hotter than ever and performing better than any devil you know. Step Back in TimeSpinning AroundA Night Like ThisLocamotion; she sang all her golden oldies. She had loads of dancers, lazers, Hattie Stewart illustrations, a feather bath, hunky men, sequins, PVC, Lycra, frills, tassels, glitter; the lot! It was all going on. Robbie Williams didn’t make an appearance to perform Kidz but Kylie was enough for me. Arh I’m so lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky and as you can see from the image above, very happy too!

Live Music Gig | The Toilers

The Toilers Soundcloud | Tweet Me: @AJOdudu | Instagram me: @ajodudu

Recently I’ve come across a band that I’ve fallen in love. They go by the name of The Toilers; a London based three piece rock and blues band who I first saw in North London bar, The Finsbury in April. I was initially drawn to the charismatic frontman, the drummers curly hair (which has a life of it’s own and the bass player who looks distinctly like Charles Manson. Not to mention their sound of course, which seems to have influences of Led Zepplin, The Doors and a tapas amount of The Black Keys. I was hooked.

After checking them out on their Facebook page and Soundcloud it became apparent that they’ve recently been recording in the famous Maide Vale studios and were playing live in East London. I had to see them again. They played a five song set in a bar I simply cannot remember the name of. The harmonica was whipped out at one point, providing a healthy dollop of dirty blues, the frontman playfully asking after each song if the crowd can get ‘dirtier’ before quickly kicking into another ZZ Top style riff on his guitar. We got filthy. My toe tapping quickly turned into hip shaking, head nodding, full on dancing and the whole crowd were going for it.

But don’t just take my word for it, here’s my favourite song they performed, Driftin’. To me, it’s very much a song for the summer so crack open that Pimms and enjoy.
